Mr. Osborn earned Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology, with emphasis in computers, communications and digital signal processing. He has been developing hand held battery-powered computer systems since 1989. While at IBM, Mr. Osborn was a key member of the team that produced the world’s first smart phone, which was awarded “Best of Comdex” in 1993. Mr. Osborn was also awarded a Second Invention Achievement Plateau from IBM for his innovations and further received recognition for his technical writing.
While working at Palm, Inc., Mr. Osborn headed up the hardware team that created the award-winning Palm V handheld computer. He was awarded the PC Magazine “Technical Excellence Award” for 1999 for the Palm V.
Mr. Osborn currently has 21 US Patents issued, with many currently pending. In 2000 he was honored as Most Prolific Inventor at Palm, Inc.
