Mr. Nanji earned a M.S. and B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Subsequently, Mr. Nanji attended law school at UCLA where he graduated Order of the Coif with an emphasis in Business Law. Mr. Nanji is admitted to the State Bar of California and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Nanji practiced high stakes patent litigation at the law firms of Kirkland & Ellis, LLP and Reed Smith, LLP, where he focused his practice on patent infringement litigation involving telecommunication and networking standards including DOCSIS and 802.11. Mr. Nanji also gained extensive experience working with software, Internet technologies, computer hardware, and auto theft prevention systems.

Mr. Nanji was also the sole IP Counsel at Gracenote, Inc., where he managed the company’s domestic and international patent portfolio and oversaw all matters related to IP litigation. In his capacity as IP counsel, Mr. Nanji also drafted patent applications, conducted due diligence, white space and freedom to operate analyses, and influenced the direction of the company’s patent portfolio growth.

Before attending law school, Mr. Nanji was as an engineer at Infrared Solutions Inc. (now Fluke Corporation) where he developed VHDL code for collecting data from infrared camera sensors and programmed the algorithms on FPGA hardware. Mr. Nanji also worked at LSI Logic Corporation where he developed algorithms and tools to perform electromigration analysis on memory circuits and electrical characterization for PCI buffers. Additionally, at LSI Logic, Mr. Nanji worked in the areas of digital logic design, design verification, synthesis, simulation, custom memory and analog circuit design.
